Discover Carbohydrate Manipulation for Burning Fat

No matter your health and fitness aspirations, a method of eating called “carbohydrate cycling” is a very effective method for fat loss. This simply means that on some days you eat lower amounts of carbohydrates (carbs) and some days you eat higher amounts of carbs. This type of eating plan also involves calorie cycling, which has been done by human beings for centuries and is probably the closest modern dietary regime to eating patterns of our ancestors. Why does carb cycling work so well?

Fat loss is more complex than just “energy intake vs. energy expenditure”. This is why just simply decreasing calorie intake does not give many people their desired fat loss and will not allow many individuals to reach their weight management goals. Our hormones play a significant role in effective fat loss. In particular, the hormones called insulin, cortisol and leptin play a major role in metabolism and how effectively fat is burned as an energy source. Properly and strategically implemented, carb cycling allows these hormones to work efficiently to put your body in a consistent fat burning mode. Here are the advantages of following a carb cycling regime vs your standard low calorie diet or chronic low carb diet: 1) manipulation of fat and energy stores, 2) protects lean body mass and 3) better blood sugar stability and control of insulin, 4) produces greater thermogenesis (production of body heat) because carbs fuel metabolism and 5) creates a greater fat burning energy deficit which is powerful for signaling your body to allow fat to be used primarily as an energy source more so than carbohydrates. Basically, carb cycling allows an individual to become more of a fat burner than a sugar burner.
